Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Albany, New York

By far our most impressive project to date is that of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany, New York. After being contacted in 1999 about the possible use of our St Bees Red Sandstone on this project, some samples were taken and very stringent tests were done. Our stone performed the best out of all the sandstones tested and was therefore chosen. Work commenced in 2000 and was concentrated on the most critical parts of the cathedral, which had deteriorated badly. The old stone was removed from the 210 foot north tower and the south, north and west clerestories and then replaced with our St Bees Red Sandstone. Work on Phase 1 finished in 2004.
